Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) recorded a higher profit for third quarter, jumped triple compared to same quarter last year.
TNB net profit stood at RM1.023 billion. The turnover increased to RM7 billion from RM6 billion in last year.
Demand for the electricity has surpassed the last year peak demand with new demand was recorded in June 17 at 14,029 megawatts.
Due to the high profit, the share of TNB has increased steadily from RM6.05 in Jan 22 to RM8.40 in July 22, soars 39% or RM2.35.
On that reason, it is unwise for TNB to increase the electric tariff. The increase of tariff should not be used as one of the strategy in maximizing the profit. Being the GLC, TNB should share the benefits that it acquired with people, and should help government to reduce the burden of the people.
