VITAMIN C PLAYS MORE IMPORTANT ROLE IN CELLS: NZ SCIENTISTS

Research shows the vitamin has a far more important role in the body
than previously thought, China's Xinhua news agency reported
quoting New Zealand scientists as saying Friday.

Dr Margret Visser from the Christchurch School of Medicine said
Vitamin C is fundamental in controlling many cell activities, cell
death and even the growth of cancer cells in tumors.

Visser's group is working on whether something as simple as
vitamin C can be used to limit the impact of cancer.

She said the regulation of cell life and death is what underlies
a lot of disease mechanisms and in particular the cancer
disease.

Visser said this is not a cure for cancer but she and her team
will now focus their research on the vitamin C levels within
cancer cells to try to establish a connection.

Apapun saiz anda pastikan anda sihat ..

RIDICULOUS: HE HAS NO BUSINESS IN GOV’T

Ridiculous. That was a respond from Khairy Jamaludin (KJ), Umno Youth Deputy President commenting on claimed made by one of the delegate (claimed him self as a failed businessman) in one seminar that he was asked to pay RM150,000 by KJ’s assistant for the appointment with him.

He was admitting that many people are coming to see him. I’m not to find which party was spoken the truth. But, to me by admitting that many people were easily met with him and they were not required to pay a single sen for that meeting, it seemingly agree with the claims made by many parties that KJ has an influences on Pak Lah in leading this country.

By right, based on his position in UMNO, he has nothing to do with the administration of the government.

If he has no say, influent or no power in the government, why are so many peoples eagerly and desperately want to meet with him.

Why that people went to met with him and not other Umno officials who are holding more senior post likes UMNO Deputy President or Vice presidents. All of them are holding a post in the government, either as Deputy Prime Minister, minister or chief minister.

Or, why the Umno Youth members are not going to meet with Hishamuddin, but KJ. It’s more reasonable to meet Hisham, since he is holding the post of Minister, which has prerogatives on certain projects at his ministry.

The reason for the above question is may be because KJ is the son-in-law of PM and it made easy for him to pass or relay the people’s problem to the PM.

If so, the above said Umno officials also can bring up the issues based on their capacity in the government through the cabinet meeting or in the Supreme Council meeting.

Only KJ, his assistants and the peoples who had had meeting with him know the real reasons why that had meetings.

But, generally it seemingly supporting the public perception that KJ has the one who has a strong influence in the running of the government of the day or tangan ghaib di belakang pentadbiran Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

THAILAND BANS ALCOHOL ADVERTISEMENTS

Thailand moves a step closer towards banning alcohol advertisements after the Cabinet passed the Alcohol Control Act today that will also bar those aged under 20 from purchasing alcoholic drinks, that was quoted from the Bernama news report on 13 March 2007.

Public Health Minister Mongkol Na Songkhla said under the Act, alcoholic drinks could not be sold near temples, schools or universities.

However, foreign advertisements of alcoholic drinks during telecast of sports programmes and sponsorship of sports events like football and golf would be allowed.

Alcohol advertisements inside entertainment outlets like pubs would also be allowed.

The Act, which received widespread support from various consumer groups but opposed by the alcohol companies, would be enforced once the National Legislative Assembly approved the bill.

The military-installed government wants to control alcohol consumption in view of increasing social problems and high accident rates attributed to drink-driving.

Thailand had also banned advertisement of cigarettes, which cannot be displayed or sold openly in shops.

Malaysian government with tagline "Islam Hadhari" should emulate the Thai Government by not only banning the advertisement, but also should restricting the production and selling of the alcoholic drink.
